Tonight I read by candlelight on our deck. What a resplendently luminous patchwork the clouds have created for the moon to shine through tonight! I also noticed the first lightening bugs of the season cavorting in the yard. Welcome back, wee bringers of joy! I am so happy to see you again. 🖤#springtimeintheozarks #grateful #maketimeforjoy

bookandbedandtea Beautiful picture! We don't have lightening bugs where I live and I've always wished we did. 5y
Ericalambbrown @bookandbedandtea Thanks! Where do you live? 5y
Freespirit What are lightening bugs? 5y

Ericalambbrown @Freespirit They are also called fireflies. They have bioluminescence so they flash green in their lower abdomen. They are actually a type of beetle. When it gets warmer here in Missouri you can see them flashing all over the yard. It‘s pretty nifty to watch. 😊 5y
BarbaraJean Gorgeous!! 😍 5y
rretzler I was thinking that it‘s early for lightning bugs, but then I realized it‘s almost June, which is when we‘ll get them in Ohio (if it ever warms up.) What great memories of catching them I have from my childhood and both of my sons‘, too. 5y
Freespirit Thank you @Ericalambbrown we have fireflies! I like the name lightening bugs😊 5y
RohitSawant Terrific picture! 5y
Ericalambbrown @rohit-sawant Thank you! 5y
bookandbedandtea @Ericalambbrown I live in Colorado. I assume it doesn't get warm enough, early enough, here for lightening bugs. (It was still snowing last week) On the bright side it deters a fair number of other bugs too. 5y
