I Had a Black Dog | Matthew Johnstone

Pickpick

I read this to the kids as part of Reading Wednesdays, afterwards we had a great discussion about dark days and how the kids felt through lockdown.
We had a few kids also admit they are still going through it, it was a very amazing conversation starter and I am very happy they where comfortable opening up to me.

Mehso-so

I'm in two minds about this book.
I understand we are somewhat lazy and we should exercise more but I don't think bullying yourself and degrading yourself is the way to motivate yourself or anyone for that matter.
I do not recommend this book and yes it hit a nerve. 😐

KathyWheeler My daughter and I ran across a diet book called Skinny Bitch in a used bookstore once. She bought it just to see what it was like. We found it to be bullying and insulting and felt all it would do was contribute to a person feeling terrible about themselves. It was also billed as snarky and humorous; we just found it mean. How is bullying yourself helpful? 3y
kaysworld1 @KathyWheeler Its not hun. I don't know how these people get it published in the first place. its just authorised bullying. 3y
KathyWheeler @kaysworld1 Yep. But it‘s always been okay to bully overweight people in our society, especially under the guise of “helping.” 3y
