Eye-opening. A reminder I desperately needed of God‘s everlasting presence in our lives and our world. When I start to forget that God is here now and always with us, I‘ll return to this book.

At times this book was so full of ideas that it was difficult to read, but it was rewarding.

If you‘re interested in #ChristianBooks , and in particular living a life of #Grace and being friends with God then this book is for you.

I‘ve taken 4 or 5 really solid areas of learning that will stay with me. In particular, that God desires for us to embrace everyday life and have joy! I struggle with depression but this was liberating for me.

tessavi Not book related, but your nails match that cover perfectly! 7d
Libby1 @tessavi - they do! 🤣 It‘s the first time I ever had a special polish for vacation. I love that cover. 6d

Sunraven When I was in my Victorians in Egypt phase, I read a book from the period where the author said something like this right at the beginning, and it was incredibly nice to see that there have always been people who find logic and faith compatible. ☺️ 3d
BookishJess @Sunraven Yes! It‘s so refreshing to hear people who believe logic/reason and religion aren‘t mutually exclusive. And I especially love learning about people whose religion actually drives their love for science and vice versa! 3d
Sunraven It is always nice to encounter people who take the material the world gives them and do something positive with it instead of finding reasons to divide people from each other. 😁 3d
BookishJess @Sunraven Yes it really is! 2d

I have just finished it... Even if at the beginning I wasn't very impressed, I started to like it after the first 100 pages. It is the story of Augustin, innocent or terrorist... It is a story about faith...religion...God...it makes you think and meditate... This was the second book that I've read written by this author, and I have to say that I really liked it and I found it interesting and inspiring. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Short. Three essays by Karl Barth, whom I had never read before. #theology

I just finished the tagged book for IRL book club tomorrow. It's an excellent book. I just don't know who it's for.
A lifelong Evangelical Christian and PhD Theologian asks " Why We Suffer?" And ultimately becomes an agnostic.
Other non religious people have drawn similar conclusions without the decades of rigorous scholarship.
Believers will undoubtedly want little to do with a book of this sort.
If you're intrigued, it's a good book.

Crazeedi We suffer because it's a fallen world. Till its restored, suffering is part of it. God does not cause suffering, mankind does. He is there to love us and give us hope in the midst of this mortal life. IMO 3w
Exbrarian And soundbite answers like that have entire chapters devoted to disproving them with Judeo-Christian scripture. 3w

Some parts I loved and others I honestly glazed over. I think the authors writing style is what hindered me more so than the content. The overall message is that we are gifted the gospel before we ask for it, and no earthly tasks can gain us entry into heaven or keep us out if we go through Jesus. We are accepted the way we are.
