This is definitely the one to pick up if you‘re not sure you‘ll vibe with Hemingway and his whole schtick. There‘s a lot less explicit misogyny and ethnocentrism in this one (it‘s still there, but not quite so in-your-face), and it‘s definitely Papa at his most emotionally intelligent and sensitive. I‘m not a big sports fan. My family tho… My oldest son was a kids‘ football coach and director of the city league. His oldest son works at the minor league hockey stadium and drives the Zamboni for games. His next younger brother is the starting left tackle for the Northwestern University football team. He had offers from 16 schools, including 6 in the Big Ten. His younger brother plays football for his high school. More……

Suzze His younger sister plays basketball for two travel teams, one in another state! My oldest granddaughter is a cheerleader for her high school. Her brother played football and got hurt. Decided he‘d rather play basketball. 🤣🤣 2mo

I liked the uncertainty the writer gave the reader until the end. I chose this book as I visited Key West, where it is set. The terms of endearment were creepy, but that was not the author's doing but rather a true account within this story.

A very interesting Audiobook about the long hunters and the European deer skin trade out of what would become Kentucky and the Ohio Country during a 14 year period between 1761 and 1775. Long hunters including Daniel Boone. A trade that started from cattle disease in Europe and ended by the American Revolution which ended deer skin demand in England. This a story of the opening of the first far west.

I picked up this book from the library having never heard of it, and I quite enjoyed it. Spend the summer in a small fishing village with a group of boys while they try to solve a mystery while growing up before us. A great look into the cod fishing industry on the east coast of Canada and the struggles it and the families that worked it suffered. A quick read and a good coming of age story.
