I was right, satisfied sigh. But, it wasn‘t till the very end that my instinct was proven true. Three women left single because of the war, move to a small town together. A dead body is discovered in their basement when they finally are able to break in on the day Daisy and her Scotland Yard husband are visiting.

It's dreary and gray here, so a good day to curl up with a cat and a wintry mystery 😺

A low pick. It took me a pretty long time to get into this but I wound up on board with it by the end. I liked the writing in general though Daisy herself was a little too faultless to feel 100% like a real person. I‘d probably read another by the same author but not, like, urgently

The last (to date) Daisy Dalrymple mystery, and it ended in a satisfying (to me) way. Overall, I liked this one better than a few of the other series entries I‘ve listened to recently - some prior characters come back, and one is murdered under strange circumstances. Daisy in her meddling ways is on the case!

If you are looking for a longish series set in 1920s England, definitely try this series! Some titles are better than others ⬇️⬇️⬆️

Librarybelle ⬆️⬆️⬆️ but the character development and storylines are fun to read throughout the series. 2y
robinb Ohhh, this sounds right up my alley! Long mystery series, I‘m there. LOL (edited) 2y
Librarybelle @robinb It was very enjoyable! Some are better than others, but Daisy is a lot of fun. 2y

The penultimate Daisy Dalrymple series entry, and I was left slightly confused and just feeling meh about the storyline. It starts out interesting - a body in the cellar leads to an investigation around the identity and the murderer. My confusion may lie in listening to multiple books in the series with secondary characters sounding the same in each book. Just one more to go!

Daisy‘s family takes center stage in this addition to the mystery series. There are a couple of mysteries in this one - a murder, of course, though it comes pretty late in the book, and who will be the next Lord Dalrymple. Heavy subjects are discussed in this one too. It was fun to learn a bit more about Daisy‘s family!

Daisy is at it again, with an invitation to solve a mystery for a former school acquaintance. When Daisy is one of the party, murder usually happens. Though I pretty much figured out who the killer was, it was a fun listen. I‘m nearing the end of the series - so sad! It‘s been fun following the character development of the main characters. #192025 #2012

In this series entry, Daisy and Alec are “investigating” separate cases, so the narrative follows both as they discover clues and put the pieces together. The ultimate ending of both cases was not surprising to me, and I wasn‘t that crazy over the dual narratives for some reason. Still, it was an enjoyable listen. #19822022 #2011
