The story centers around the corruption in the Mountaintop area of Pennsylvania. Fast forward 13 years Ang again Bennie is called in to help Jason again. This time he‘s been arrested for murder. The difficult facts seem to make the case airtight. Lisa Scottoline gives the reader plenty to keep on going! 4/5⭐️
pickAssistant District Attorney Nina Frost is really good at her job. She tries very hard to do the best she can to prosecute sexual predators. Then comes the day when her 5 yr old son is sexually abused. When the man, her priest, is brought into the court Nina acts in unexpectedly and shoots him at point blank range. This is all on tape. Nina has to pay for her sins. No one should be above the law. Was the outcome expected? 4⭐️
pickThis was a good audio distraction because it is a plot driven mystery. It‘s always a bit jarring when the setting is familiar.
It occurs to me in retrospect the Latin motto in this novel was not lived by half the American eligible voting population. 😒 Act with integrity no matter how the chips may fall, including your own wallet.
I have an idea that this is what enduring love really means. Your memories of a girl at seventeen become as real and vivid as the middle-aged woman sitting in front of you. It is a happy sort of double vision, this seeing and remembering. To be seen this way is to be known.
pickWhen I checked this book out of my local library, I didn't realize it was two books in one until I almost got finished with the first story. The first story: The Jailhouse Lawyer involved a lawyer who became a public defender in a small town. She soon realizes that there is evil in the town. The second story: Power of Attorney involves a lawyer that left her small town for a big city. She returns home because her ⬇️
