So many moon-titled books on my shelves! Here are two of my more recent favorites for #MoonDay 🌙🌜🌖
We can always trust Patrick Radden Keefe for a compelling deep dive. This backlist treat is no exception. I knew very little about Chinese migration to the US in the ‘80s and ‘90s, legal or otherwise. This investigation into the Snakehead trade, through the case Sister Ping is narrative non-fiction at its best. You can‘t make this kind of story up.

Heavy on mysteries this month:
13 mysteries: modern, historical, golden age, rereads
2 historical fiction
My third Stacey Lee book read for #SundayBuddyRead & another great story from this Historical YA author. Set around the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, it features 15-year-old Mercy Wong who is trying to get herself & her family out of the poverty of Chinatown by using ideas from a women‘s business book to get into an elite boarding school. Mercy is a great character & I loved her bravery & wit. Lee makes history come to life for both YA & adult ⬇️
