Midnight Riot | Ben Aaronovitch

Taking a break from my His Dark Materials re-read (only The Amber Spyglass to go!) in order to fulfill the "Recommended by a librarian" square on my summer bingo card. "Midnight Riot" has been suggested to me by both SPL librarians & school librarians from their own book piles, so I'm pretty excited to jump in. Wish me luck! #SeattleArtsAndLectures #SeattlePublicLibrary #SummerBookBingo #amreading #recommendedby

Last night's panel moderated by Sherman Alexie left me excited about three new authors: Patricia Park, Ariel Schrag and Sunil Yapa. As always, Alexie amazes me with his thoughtful intelligence, wry observations and wit. Explaining how he selected these three, it was important to discover authors no one else was going to recommend to him, so he can continue living outside his comfort zone. #seattleartsandlectures

"I want to encourage people to drink less, so the next time you're invited to dinner, skip the wine. Bring the host a book instead." #salpatchett #seattleartsandlectures

Spiderfelt The best thing about tonight's lecture were all the books Patchett recommended. This book was the one that prompted the quote above. She specifically recommended bringing this book in lieu of wine. 8y
