Fellowship Point: A Novel | Alice Elliott Dark

Mehso-so

Thanks to the people at @SimonSchuster @simonbooks for gifting me a review copy of Fellowship Point. As part of the #SSBookclub I offer my unbiased opinion.Though this story is set in the early 21 century and some parts in the 1960‘s the author‘s prose felt very old fashioned. A long winded story of two women, now in their late 80‘s raised in white privileged Philadelphia & Maine. Polly & Agnes are best friends who carry each other‘s secrets. 👇🏼

Cinfhen Agnes an author, who is experiencing writer‘s block is contacted to pen her memoir by a young NYC editor‘s assistant. When Agnes begins a correspondence with the assistant old memories of her friendship with Polly are re-examined. This is a quiet novel which requires a lot of patience but does provide some lovely surprises. (edited) 2y
Megabooks Long winded isn‘t exactly selling me… 2y
BarbaraBB @Megabooks 🤣 And what to think about “requires a lot of patience”? 2y

Cinfhen 🙄😬 @BarbaraBB @Megabooks at almost 600 pages this book didn‘t really pay off for me. #MoreMehThanYeah 2y
Megabooks Yikes! It doesn‘t sound like a plot that could carry 600 pages!! 😬😬 @BarbaraBB 2y
Cinfhen No, they threw another whole subplot about their summer homes on Fellowship Point in Maine but it was just hundreds of pages of filler @Megabooks 2y
