Pickpick

119 of 2020. This was the last book in this series for me to read. I read them out of order which normally drives me nuts, but it was fine in this case. Not my favorite of the series, but a good read nonetheless. ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

This book has all the usual suspense, but then at the end it‘s amazingly philosophical as well. I spent the entire book desperately wanting to know what the big announcement was, but that was kind of anticlimactic. There was nothing new in the announcement, even for 2017. Winston, as a character, was the most intriguing and brought the philosophical twist. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics He‘s certainly something of an antihero, which certainly adds to the philosophical dimension. This is my favourite Robert Langdon novel yet, but I certainly hope there is another in the works as we speak. #DanBrown #RobertLangdonSeries #Origin 4y

Sparklemn You are absolutely right! 💙 4y
Branwen Wow. I love this! 💖 4y
GingerAntics @Branwen isn‘t it great. I saw it and thought everyone, no matter their religion, even people who have no religion, can/should get behind this. 4y
GingerAntics @Sparklemn such a great sentiment. Part of be genuinely believes that most people are behind this sort of thinking, but the loudest, angriest voices make it seem like there are far fewer of us than there really are. 4y

Sadly, it seems some people don‘t understand this. It‘s quite simple, really.

This is why tyrants so love division. They think it can prevent this.

BarbaraTheBibliophage Well, that‘s relevant. 4y
GingerAntics @BarbaraTheBibliophage a lot of the tail end of the book is. I have a feeling those are the parts Brown was finishing as the campaign was happening. 4y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @GingerAntics Probably so! I didn‘t comment on all the quotes you posted, but so many are 😱. 4y
GingerAntics @BarbaraTheBibliophage there are a lot of them. I didn‘t even post them all. 4y

This book was released in 2017. Given his turn around time on books, it‘s likely the main ideas for this book were solidified long before Trump ran for or bough the presidency. I wonder how much of these little details were added in response to Trump‘s campaign.

And we are seeing the results of this right now with right wing conservatives the ones least likely to wear masks, socially distance and stay home. Meanwhile, they are most likely to thrown tantrums in the store, spit in people‘s faces and pee on the floor. (I maintain that when this is over, these people‘s kids are going to act like that because that‘s the example being set. “I don‘t want to, so I can have a tantrum.” Good luck with that folks.)

I guess if people want to deny science and evidence in church, more power to them, but schools should be teaching science, not mythology. We have a separation of church and state. We need to respect it.
