This was a contemplative read, that took a long time because it was best in small chunks that I spent a long time thinking about. And the quote above is probably a better summation than anything I could come up with. @HannaPolkadots , it‘s way past Lent, but I finished. #Lent2020

Appropriate to the day. #Lent2020 And no, I won‘t finish this book during Lent, but it will follow me into Easter.

There‘s so much good stuff in this, I‘m glad I chose it for #Lent2020, because, to quote a friend, this is the Lentiest Lent I‘ve ever Lented!

Leftcoastzen Merton is so great. 4y
Christoffer If you want more Merton after Lent, New Seeds of Contemplation could give you some thoughts to plant in Eastertide. 4y

I had to go into work for several hours this morning to draft a new State of Emergency for our town, imposing new restrictions. But now I‘m home, under the cat, and back to reading my #Lent2020 book.

So much relevance in this book from 1966.

My second book for #Lent2020 - @Lcsmcat how is it going with you?😃

Lcsmcat I‘m still reading the Merton. But I have to confess I‘m not reading as much as I was. I work in local government and we‘re crazy right now with the pandemic. Plus my husband and I are both working from home right now which means lunch with him instead of my book. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I‘m hoping to put in some serious reading time this weekend. 4y
HannaPolkadots @Lcsmcat - I completely understand! My reading has been been slowed down too, both because I struggle to concentrate with all that is going on, but also because this week I (like so many others) have had to completely change my teaching practice and learn a whole lot of new programs... Thumbs up for all the great work done by local government at this time!👏❤ Hope you will get a relaxing weekend. 4y
Lcsmcat @HannaPolkadots Thanks! I‘m going to try not to think about it for 48 hours. 😀 4y

The Everlasting Man | G.K. Chesterton

Finished my first book for #Lent2020. This was in some ways a very heavy book - The history of man and the history of Jesus, and how Christianity differs from other religions. In other ways, og was easy, probably because of Chesterton's style, he uses humor, irony and sarcasm, and I LOVE how he compares Christianity to a weird, immortal, single woman. Will def read more Chesterton in the future 😀

Lcsmcat You got me with “weird immortal single woman” Stacked! 4y
