I have had an itch for an occult detective story lately. Book 2 in the Dresden Files finds Harry investigating a series of gruesome murders that are committed around a full moon. With some great action set pieces, witty banter & werewolf mythology this was largely a satisfying read. The juvenile reoccurring male gaze comments were grating; a defect that I have heard Butcher improves upon as the series progresses.

KathyWheeler The juvenile comments do improve but they‘re still occasionally annoying. I love this series, but I hate that aspect of it. 2mo
vivastory @KathyWheeler I'm glad to hear that. They were pretty prominent in this one. 2mo
andreadmw The juvenile comments get better but I do wish Butcher included more diversity. I love his books but I‘d like to see him write a female lead, include more diverse characters and have other relationships. 2mo
KathyWheeler @andreadmw I completely agree with you on this. 2mo

In the 3rd Harry Dresden novel, Harry takes on his most formidable opponent yet. It is going to take a few of his friends to help defeat this particular monster, they call Nightmare. Fast-paced, with Harry‘s sardonic and sarcastic wit throughout, this one was a fast read for being 465 pages. Definitely enjoyed it and will continue the series! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 #serieslove2023 #deweyoct

Started this one this morning. I‘m 156 pages (35%) in and hooked. What is Harry Dresden up against in this mail biter?! Something bigger and more powerful than he‘s faced previously. ❤️📚

#WondrousWednesday @Eggs

1) I think it was Jim Butcher's Death Masks

2) 🤔 Several years. There are a few books that I still haven't finished after 20+ years. I guess those books taught me to DNF books.

3) Raising two voracious readers. There are a few other things I'm proud of, but seeing their love for books and reading makes me proud. Especially considering there are lots of other media they might be attracted to.

Tag, you're it! 🤪

Y‘all. I just can‘t even. I will not spoil it for anyone working on this #Series but holy moly. Changes is an apt name for this book. I actually had to read the first few pages of the next book to make myself feel better. #DresdenFiles
