Pickpick

Very interesting book. The author does a reasonably good job at covering the history of Central Europe from around the Roman Empire until after the Cold War. The different topics are covered in a more broad manner, so some areas don't receive a very in-depth look. However, the book can still serve as a good introduction for those interested in Central European history.

I am touring the Vienna Habsburg Schönbrunn castle and it has changed my brain for what I am going to picture when a book says a Dovecote/ aviary.

Mehso-so

This was okay. About the last son of the Habsburg dynasty, and what a complete ass he was. He unfortunately took his wife and mistress down with him, his mistress much more so. I do think the authors make a good point about people needing a purpose and if these old guards keep gripping tight to everything the new generation flounders. But maybe I am looking too deep given my country's current climate.
Good if you like a rich family drama

With Empress Sisi of Austria-Hungary at the restful Gödöllő Palace, enjoying time away from the restrictions of the Imperial court in Vienna (and being fussed over by dashing romantic rivals).

My third stop was #Vienna, a beautiful city, where I visited lots of fantastic museums and palaces. Inspired by Schloss Schönbrunn, I also read this massive biography about Kaiserin Sisi. I highly recommend it.

So, if Henry III was the one appointing the popes, did he dismiss one for buying the title from…himself? Bold move, Henry, bold move.
