From my notes on this book. #3 is the one that bothers me.

I have no idea if he did it or not. Two people, possibly three do. One is dead. The other is Adnan. The third, if Adnan didn‘t do it, is Hae‘s killer. I have my suspicions, I will admit to leaning a little more one direction than the other.

To everyone who claims “oh he did it, he did it” and “the ‘innocenters‘ are all nuts,” what would you do if the DNA proved him innocent? What if what was already tested wasn‘t Adnan‘s, and that‘s why they stopped the rest of the tests? If it comes back as his, I will admit that my suspicions were wrong and I was hoodwinked. Would any of these people do the same?

batsy Wow. I had no idea that they could do that (put a "hold" on testing). I was consumed by this case when I was listening to Serial and it also left me feeling strongly for Adnan's innocence; I need to read this soon. 5y
Crazeedi This book sounds fascinating 5y
GingerAntics @batsy neither did I, or more accurately, I didn‘t think anyone would want to. It lends credence to the idea that they made their decision before the even had a body. Like I said, he could have done it, but I‘m leading toward he probably didn‘t. I want the results of those DNA tests. It can take a decade or more to get that stuff done, though. 5y

GingerAntics @Crazeedi it really is. It‘s a little depressing at times, but then Adnan himself comes in and his mindset about all of this is so positive. 5y
GingerAntics @batsy did you know that at one point, he‘d been such a model prisoner and the librarian trusted him, she had him take boxes to her car...alone. He was out in the parking lot, keys to a car in hand. He put the boxes in the car and walked right back into the prison. That‘s not the action of a guilty man to me. If he just wanted to get away with murder he would have gotten in the car and left. He didn‘t. 5y
batsy That's really something. Wasn't aware of that incident but on the podcast, during the host's phone conversations with him, it was really hard to imagine him doing what he was supposed to have done. I'd read about his good behaviour in prison. 5y
GingerAntics @batsy I read one review that claimed the cadence of is speech was proof he was lying. What? Some people are nuts. Parts of the book are actually written by him. One of the things he mentions is that after the trial people were saying he manipulated people and lied, and how that really effected him because he‘d never done either. So now he‘s just nice to people and he‘s always the same way no matter what, so no one can say he manipulated anyone. 5y
