Dexter Is Delicious
Dexter Is Delicious: Dexter Morgan (5) | Jeff Lindsay
14 posts | 41 read | 4 to read
Americas most-read, most-watched, and most beloved serial killerDexter Morganis back. After selling more than one million copies and inspiring the wildly popular #1 Showtime series and top-rated crime drama on pay-cable television, New York Times bestselling author Jeff Lindsay returns with his most hilarious, macabre, and purely entertaining novel yet. Dexter Morgan has always lived a happy homicidal life. He keeps his dark urges in check by adhering to one steadfast rule . . . he only kills very bad people. But now Dexter is experiencing some major life changesdont we all?and theyre mostly wrapped up in the eight-pound curiosity that is his newborn daughter. Family bliss is cut short, however, when Dexter is summoned to investigate the disappearance of a seventeen-year-old girl who has been running with a bizarre group of goths who fancy themselves to be vampires. As Dexter gets closer to the truth of what happened to the missing girl, he realizes they are not really vampires so much as cannibals. And, most disturbing . . . these people have decided they would really like to eat Dexter. Jeff Lindsays bestselling, dark, ironic, and oftentimes laugh-out-loud hilarious novels about the lovable serial killer with no soul (but a redeeming desire to kill only people who deserve it) have gained a legion of fans and assumed a place in our culture. This edition includes an excerpt from Jeff Lindsay's Dexter's Final Cut.

#SeriesLove2024 I finished this in 2023 but I‘m posting my review in 2024. I have one gripe about this. Maybe more than one but this is the only one I can think of. Everyone keeps referring to Debra‘s boyfriend as too old for her, as an old man. For Pete‘s sake! He‘s not even 40!! How old is Debra anyway? She holds the rank of sergeant. Twenty-somethings don‘t get promoted to the rank of sergeant. (cont)⬇️

CatLass007 Okay, rant over. In this book Dexter becomes a daddy. Does he actually grow a soul? I guess if Mazikeen can grow a soul on the TV show Lucifer, why not Dexter in this book series? What goes on inside Dexter‘s mind is still fiendishly funny. The book is a pick and so is the series. (edited) 4mo

Parts of this delivered the Dexter story I've come to expect, but then some of it went way too off the rails for me. A cannibalistic vampire cult? Sounds like a good story, but things got way too messy and Dexter of course comes out of everything just fine.

Not my favorite in the series, but I'll still try the next one.

2-16-22: My 15th finished book of 2022! Book 5 in the series. Dexter is back and he is a new Dad! His daughter Lily Anne is perfect and he has decided to change his ways. Then his sister, Sergeant Deborah, pulls him into a case involving 2 missing girls, cannibals, and possibly vampires! In the meantime, his brother, Brian, who is even worse than Dexter, resurfaces and decides to play Uncle. Dexter doesn‘t know what to take care of first.

Not terribly long ago I had thought of myself as lucky to have family. Now, in one night, I had been ignored by my wife and children, replaced by my brother, and shoved into a late-night session of impossible expectation by my sister. My loving family—I would have traded them all for one decent jelly doughnut.

I am not really a political animal, although I understand it well enough—politics is just a way to indulge in my former hobby using metaphorical knives instead of real ones. But it seemed like no fun at all to me. All the careful maneuvering and backstabbing were so obvious and pointless and didn‘t really lead to anything all that exciting.

General consensus that Dexter is an #ISTJ is making more and more sense. 😉 🍩☎️

For the first time I felt a real kinship with these people. We were connected, one great ocean of humanity bound together by a common goal, and I found myself humming a pleasant tune and nodding with forgiveness and understanding toward each upraised middle finger that came my way.

It has been great to look at the many posts for #flawedcharacters today. There have been so many I love. My favorite #antihero has to be Dexter Morgan, though. I mean, he is a serial killer, and I root for him. The books have the same characters but a very different story line from the television series. They are fun to read. #octphotochallenge

Suzze Loved this book series. I have an advance copy of Darkly Dreaming Dexter that came with a clear bookmark with a blood spatter on it. I'll have to go dig it out and post it one day. 8y

Melkyl @Varshitha I love the tv series too! The first book is closer to the series, yet still different. The other books are pretty different. 8y

It's a good book, with mystery, action, Deborah's swearing and especially Dexter. I always liked reading his train of thoughts and in this book he's a bit more human, so rambles a bit, but it's still good.

I really missed Dexter! But it's weird to find him all gooey and nice 😉 Thankfully he still has sharp tongue...
