Hedgehog loves his new bike. His best friend Harry says he likes it, too. But when Hedgehog asks Harry to go bike riding with him, Harry says he does not want to go. Does Harry not like his friend's new bike? Or could this all have something to do with training wheels?

Do You Like My Bike is a short graphic novel about sharing and helping friends out. This story has incredible, cute pictures and colorful hues to come across as a positive atmosphere. The Hamster is ashamed that he can't ride a bike without training wheels, but the hedgehog is nice and understanding, without being judgmental.

In my classroom, I would have this as an option for my first graders to practice their reading skills during independent reading time.

My favorite part of the story is when Hedgehog is a good friend to Harry and tells him that he shouldn‘t be embarrassed that he still uses training wheels. It was a really kind gesture, and he helped his friend feel better.

Hedgehog gets a new bike and he really likes it. His friend Harry also says he likes it, but when Hedgehog asks Harry if he wants to ride it, Harry wants no part of it. Hedgehog begins to think that Harry really doesn‘t like his bike, but Harry does! Harry feels embarrassed because he still has training wheels on his bike, but Hedgehog is Harry‘s friend and he doesn‘t care if he needs training wheels. A great book about friendship.

This is a great graphic to introduce to kindergarteners or first graders. It teaches students to share with others, even their new toys. Students may even be able to make a personal connection to this if they are learning, or have learned, to ride a bike. It also displays to students that it is okay to accept your friends as they are. Children will enjoy the illustrations in this book, especially when Hedgehog knocks over Harry with his bike.

Pickpick

“Do You Like My Bike?“ by Norm Feuti is a graphica novel. This graphica or comic book would be appropriate for kindergarteners. It discusses Hedgehog getting a new bike, but Harry does not want to ride. The illustrations help portray that Hedgehog is riding too fast by having lines behind him to show his speed. It also displays a worried and anxious look on Harry's face showing that he is afraid that Hedgehog might hit him.
