Pickpick

Low pick for this one. Lucy and Duncan get their first assignment as Royal Saboteurs in this fourth book of the series (read it as a standalone and it worked). Lucy is hyper-competitive and Duncan is hopelessly in love with her. Undercover in the Prime Minister‘s household, they must uncover a plot, apprehend the villain, and protect a little boy - while unraveling their feelings. I liked the depths to Duncan‘s story and want to read more 👇🏻

Lucy & Duncan are agents are sent undercover to protect the prime minister‘s young son.

Duncan comes off as a lovesick puppy & Lucy is a bit childish and immature. I questioned Lucy‘s ability to be an agent as she seemed to be missing the required skills.

While I wish a little more of the story would have been dedicated to the assignment, I appreciated the moments Lucy & Duncan spent together talking openly about their feelings or their pasts.

Mehso-so

Fourth in the Royal Saboteurs historical romance series, I must admit that this was my least favorite of the series so far. Lucy, as one of the few female spy agents trained at The Farm, is out to prove herself against her male counterparts and her “perfect” brother (also a fellow spy). Her archenemy is Duncan, her competitor in all things during their spy training. When they are forced to work their first case together (a 🔻

robinb protection/investigation), they must learn how to work together and have each other‘s back. This story is a bit different from the usual historical romance mold in that Duncan begins the story seriously in love with Lucy, and Lucy has to play catch-up as she (with some experience under her belt) would rather just have fun with a fling. I think what bothered me about this story was Lucy‘s and Duncan‘s characters. I found her immature and 🔻 8mo
robinb overly rude to Duncan (and her age was not the problem), whereas Duncan mostly put up with her and was actually a little on the submissive side. I found myself at times wanting to strangle each of them for different reasons. There were also quite a few instances of their case being basically ignored as they met for trysts…I found myself (humorously) wanting to remind them why they were there in the first place. But in the end, Lucy realizes the 🔻 (edited) 8mo
