Kill for Love
Kill for Love | Laura Picklesimer
1 post | 1 read | 1 to read
Abstract: Kill for Love is the first half of a novel written during my two years as an M.F.A. student at California State University, Long Beach. The novel protagonist, Tiffany, is a privileged sorority member living in West L.A. The novel opens soon after her senior year has begun. Her usual vapid activities no longer satisfy her, and she cannot sleep. After a fraternity party, Tiffany gives into a homicidal urge, killing her date. She soon embarks on a murder spree while trying to maintain a relationship with her new love interest. I used Tiffany murderous habits to comment on class, gender and college culture.

Bailedbailed

DNF in March.

I started KFL in print and switched to audio, but bailed at 60%. This is supposed to be satire, I think, so maybe I just didn‘t get it. The summary refers to this as a “female-driven, modern-day American Psycho.” That should have worked for me. I haven‘t read AP and it‘s ages since I saw the movie so I can‘t compare.

Last year I read Maeve Fly, which was also compared to AP, and loved it. The content of MF makes it hard to ⬇️

Bookzombie recommend, but I would say read it instead of KFL. (edited) 1mo

vivastory I have Maeve Fly on my TBR this year. It will meet a very strange prompt for the 52 book club, but I am really looking forward to it! 3w
Bookzombie @vivastory I hope you enjoy it too! 🤞🏻 3w
