Summer at the Ice Cream Café
Summer at the Ice Cream Café: Brand-new for 2023: A perfect feel-good summer romance from the bestselling author | Jo Thomas
2 posts | 1 read | 2 to read
A dream home Beca Valentino is ready to escape the city. When she sees the perfect house for sale in her hometown, it seems like fate. Is this her chance to build the foster family she dreams of, on the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast? A big mistake? Returning home isn't as easy as she thought, however. Her family's beloved ice cream café is gone - turned into a soulless wine bar by her hateful ex-boyfriend. Reconnecting with her oldest friend, fisherman Griff, isn't straightforward either. And when, instead of the children she expected to take in, two wary teenage boys appear on her doorstep, Beca fears she's made a terrible mistake. A recipe for change But an old family recipe book is just the inspiration she needs. Soon, with a little help from friends old and new, Beca is selling mouth-watering homemade gelato from a pop-up café on the beach. Then disaster strikes. Will the Valentino family legacy be lost forever? Or can Beca create a new recipe for happiness? - - - - - - Praise for Summer at the Ice Cream Café: 'Full of love and warmth, tears and laughter, another gorgeous book from Jo Thomas' Katie Fforde 'Gorgeously evocative, happy-making and full of love!' Jill Mansell 'Delicious and delightful - Jo sweeps you away to a better place' Veronica Henry 'A delicious and touching summery read in a beautiful setting' Phillipa Ashley

Love Jo Thomas‘ books and this was my favourite read for #April. #12Booksof2023 A perfect Beach read! A new start back in the place she lived in as a a child, a business start up and romance. What more could you want.

Also very notable recommendation for Unnatural Creatures by Kris Waldherr, about the women in Frankenstein‘s life. Loved this, and very atmospheric.

Jo Thomas gets me every time with her books. You start off and think this is a nice story, with an interesting but not earth shattering premise or character. Before long she has me totally hooked and desperately needing to read on and caring passionately about the people in her stories

Andrew65 In this one Beca returns to her childhood village after many years away, and finds the place has changed. Will she be happy here setting up a home for respite care for children in local authority care? Will she be any good at it? How will her former best friend and a former boyfriend relate to her? The story unfolds in front of your eyes. 13mo
Andrew65 I really fell in love with the characters, the place and the story in this one, and just didn‘t want to put this book down. At times it had me feeling every emotion imaginable and yes at points it had me crying, especially the ending! I was almost shouting at Beca telling her what she needed to do. A truly engaging and uplifting story. 13mo
Andrew65 This was a five star read for me and I do strongly recommend it. Jo Thomas has really become one of my favourite authors, especially in this genre, and I cannot wait for her next book. A great book to read during the Summer ahead.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
