This novel really kept me guessing. It was fast-paced; the short chapters really kept the narrative moving and the story interesting. The characters were ok. Many of them were hard to connect or relate to. I also felt that their secrets were not as big or as life altering as they should have been based on the reactions and the feelings of the secret keepers. The audiobook was also ok. I did like the pace and inflection used for much of the audio.

This a fine but not great YA thriller. I liked the build up, but the big reveal annoyed me. I did finish it, and I think for the intended audience this is solid. 3⭐️

Yay a #Roll100 book off the tbr!

3 ⭐ One night a year, Sam Hall and a very small group of friends traipse off into the wood to tell their secrets to a private little hut. A place, or an object that lets them unburden themselves of the weights on their shoulders.

Sam a formal child TV star has lots of secrets. Secrets about a fire, about his dad, about his life. But so does everyone else. And now the blackmail has begun. Secrets leak out, some small, some large, causing

LibrarianRyan problems and danger for all.

This book was okay. It starts on Halloween and goes a few more days. The adult in mean screams “talk to your parents or trusted adults” and this book wouldn‘t exist. To me, this book was nothing special. It will have a hot flash in the pan this year but die off by next.

This YA thriller certainly grabs your attention and holds it from start to finish! Sam and his friends have a Halloween ritual where they meet in the woods to confess their secrets to a secret cabin… but it‘s quickly apparent that their secrets are no longer held sacrosanct… families, friends and relationships all are held accountable as they search for the truth! With a diverse cast and a fast pace, I really enjoyed this one!
