This was a good installment in the series. It did take me a little while to work up to reading it, and the pace is not as fast as a 21st-century-set mystery, but there was a lot going on: Raven wondering whether it was time for him to leave the nest, as it were, and Fisher becoming interested in mesmerism. The crimes were just the right amount of gruesome: severed body parts and the fear of the resurrection men.

This is the fourth book in the series, set in Victorian Edinburgh. It continues with the lives of Will and Sarah, plus many of the other characters. Again, they set about to solve a crime. It's a really great thriller.

Another solid addition to this series. I continue to be in favor of a hot steamy affair between Raven and Sarah…. Read by Bryan Dick and his sexy Scottish accent, I just feel like it could really work that‘s all I‘m saying. 😝🍆🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌺

I have a shameless appetite for gossip and scandal. I find few things quite as exhilarating as other peoples bad behavior - Mrs. Krull

I am not sure I have this character‘s name right (the Scottish accent on the audio makes it impossible for me to know how it is spelled), but I simply must endorse the sentiment as someone who reads at least five advice columns a day and listens to at least a few gossipy podcasts 😂

I wasn‘t aware this fourth book in the series was out! So excited to make it my weekend audio book! Even more excited to see Bryan Dick on narration again, highly recommend these books in audio format, excellent performance.

This is the fourth in a brilliant series. Edinburgh in 1853 is so vivid. You can tel the authors have a meticulous approach to research as characters move about and experience the city in totally believable ways. The medical and social research that puts us in the time and place is equally brilliant. And nothing bogs down the plot - which is fast and furious!

Oh I love this series. Its so interesting. I'm not usually a big fan of historic novels but there's something about these ones that drew me in and didn't let go. The mystery is a clever one and there's lots going on. Its a slow burn, build up but the ending is really well done. Especially the part with Gregor. I do love the relationship between Sarah and Will its a bit more unique than other stories which I really like. #Netgalley 5*

The writing duo of AP have gone and done it again with another irresistibly entertaining instalment in the Raven & Fisher series. They have hit on a winning formula that is showing no signs of flagging. The murder mystery is well thought out & engaging, there is some surprising character development and, ooh my favourite, all the usual tension - professional and otherwise - between Will & Sarah. Always a pleasure to be back in this world.

It's 1853, two years have passed since the last adventure of Raven, Fisher and Simpson.

Body parts have been found around the city. The culprit is soon found, but the case doesn't seem to be as straightforward.

Sarah is interested in mesmerism. The Simpson household is turned on its head by a medium who knows far more than he should. Raven is at odds with himself and the world.
