Scary, weird & sad…It‘s Junji Ito!

This is a single-shot entry I believe. I‘m not sure I‘d WANT to follow these characters.

No heroes in horror manga, sorry!

Utterly ridiculous and preposterous, but... let go of any expectation of it making sense and strap in for the ride with the same willing suspension of disbelief that you might bring to the '80s Re-Animator films, and it's body-horror-tastic! 🧟‍♂️🖤

CW for suicide.

A group of 4 strangers meet on the titular message board to end their lives. The book opens with them driving to do so & they begin sharing their reasons why. Existential anxiety, modernization & fear of their doubles are a reoccurring theme in the opening with the Japanese author Akutagawa mentioned. TW: Body horror and suicide.

I don't read a lot of manga but I absolutely love Junji Ito. His horror stories and the illustrations that go with them are incredibly gorgeous and disturbing at the same time. Ito is the master of combining horror, sci fi, and social commentary all into one.
