"Amare Bellamy never meant to get married. She had a simple plan: rescue the Captain, rendezvous with the crew, and escape the Sunken City. But when her father bumps up the wedding without notice, she has no choice but to comply... that is, until Lukas shows up. Lukas presents Amare with an ultimatum: break into Skullhaven and collect the ring that could raise the Fallen Witch, or watch her friends die. She agrees, under the contingency that, once their mission is complete, they never speak again. Amare is dead set on sticking to this plan... until she finds out they must pose as a married couple to get inside Skullhaven. Cornered, she agrees to keep up the ruse until they can get the ring and get out. But what happens when their fake marriage starts to feel not so fake at all?"--Back cover.

4/5 ⭐️

I liked this one a lot. Hated the ending/cliffhanger. WHY. And there was an increase in language. Particularly F words. Not a fan of that. But the editing did improve by 80% for this book. Still not perfect but far better than the first. Still a great unique story under the sea!

I hardly ever say this about a book series; but this sequel was so much better than the first book! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved The Sunken City, but this book was filled to the rim of all my favourite tropes. Enemies to lovers, one bed, fake marriage and so many more. It was so action packed and I loved seeing Amare fight more and learn her magic. The world building was phenomenal, I love this world of underwater kingdoms and pirates...

abookdragonsretreat ...as well as all the magic. The romance was perfect and I'm happy with Amare's choice, I just hope nothing ruins it in the next book. I can't believe the cliffhanger at the end, though I kind of predicted it, my jaw was still hanging open! I can't wait to get my hands on the final book in December, because this series has been amazing so far! 2y
