There‘s a handful of books that come to mind when I think of books that have hilarious or adorable animals in them, but here‘s one I read recently… featuring a chicken! 🐓🐓🐓

Reading this one right now, and it perfect matches todays #loveathon prompts #ForcedProximitry. 💖 Trixie and Bear meet while she‘s racing around a busy road trying to catch an injured chicken. A week later, Trixie has to find a new place to live, or give up Chick Chick to someone who won‘t be able to properly care for her wounds. Thanks to some meddling sisters, and a hilarious ad in the paper, Trixie ends up on Bears doorstep.
I went into this book thinking it'd be a lighthearted story, a romantic comedy to read in between more serious tomes. I was not prepared for the depth and substance this book delivered on. Do not let the cover fool you. There's a bit of trauma discussed here, and it's not hard to empathize with the characters they affect.
The title really hits differently after the book's over.
Thank you to Netgalley, and Alcove Press for the e-arc!

Leave it to a chicken to throw my life into a tailspin.
