'A feast of a novel: for the senses, the mind and the emotions' Sophie Kinsella The insightful, audacious, and deeply romantic story of a woman whose life turns upside down after she meets an enigmatic chef on vacation in Italy - perfect for fans of Beautiful Ruins or Under the Tuscan Sun. On the heels of a difficult break-up and a devastating diagnosis, Shakespeare scholar Lizzie Delford decides to take one last lavish vacation on Elba, the sun-kissed island off the Italian coast, with her best friend and his movie-star boyfriend. Once settled into a luxurious seaside resort, Lizzie has to make big decisions about her future, and she needs the one thing she may be running out of: time. She leaves the yacht owners and celebrities behind and sneaks off to the public beach, where she meets a sardonic chef named Dante, his battered dog, Lily, and his wry daughter, Etta, a twelve-year-old desperate for a mother. While Dante shows Lizzie the island's secrets, and Etta dazzles with her irreverent humour, Lizzie is confronted with a dilemma. Is it right to fall in love if time is short? Is it better to find a mother briefly, or to have no mother at all? And most pressingly, are the delicacies of life worth tasting, even if you will get to savour them only for a short while? Praise for Mary Bly: 'A luscious story of love, courage, and Italian wine, Lizzie & Dante demands to know how far we should travel to find a future worth fighting for. The story unfolds in a whirl of Italian landscape, food, passion and philosophy. No subject is too big for this book; no detail too small. It is a joyful, escapist, wise and satisfying story which answers the questions we didn't even know we wanted to ask.' Sophie Kinsella

Mehso-so

Ummmm 🤨 the title of this book is Lizzie and Dante & the attraction / get together happens pretty quickly but then , unlike ALL romances this author decides to drift off and give centre stage to the b list characters ! Who cares about grey and Rohan and ruby ?? Why was ruby even in it ?? Page 180 and Lizzie and Dante have had just one passionate night written about , Etta is a great character but no where near enough about Lizzie & Dante . Shame

Lizzie Dellford,a Shakespeare scholar with a cancer diagnosis that gives her just months to live, joins her lifelong friend & his movie star lover on Elba island. Against this glorious seaside backdrop she confronts the possibility of love with a soulmate she meets.A world renowned chef,he reels her in with his simple delectable food. His daughter motherless, witty Ella adds to her dilemma.with so little time, is it fair for her to love this family?

kspenmoll Mary Bly writes also under the name of @EloisaJames - sound familiar?! 2y
kspenmoll There is so much more to this novel- what is the meaning of family? Betrayal, friendship, accountability- portrayal of someone living with cancer is authentic. 2y

This was a beautiful love story. Not just a love story of the hero and heroine but the love of found family. This is very different from the other books by this author-she is most famous writing as Eloisa James (historical romance). This is not, I would place this in the Women‘s Fiction realm. Some CW I‘ll put in comments. 4.5⭐️ Another bingo for #bookspinbingo

I have a very full cataloging cart this week. Here's all the fiction I'm adding to the library's collection.

charl08 I'd be sneaking half the trolley home. Good job I'm not a librarian! 3y
