From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Wonder comes a new American classic about a boy on a quest to find his father, guided by a ghost and a mysterious pony. Part True Grit, part War Horse, Pony is an enthralling story of adventure, friendship, and the invisible bonds that connect us. Twelve-year-old Silas is awoken in the dead of night by three horsemen, who arrive unannounced to take his father away. Silas is left shaken, scared, and alone, except for the presence of his companion, Mittenwool . . . who happens to be a ghost. But when a pony shows up at his door, Silas knows what he has to do. He will set out on a perilous journey across a vast American landscape to find his fathera journey that will ultimately connect him with his past and future, and the unfathomable mysteries of the world around him. R. J. Palacio spins a harrowing yet distinctly beautiful tale about the power of love and the ties that bind us across distance and time. For readers who love the poignant depth of War Horse and the singular voice of True Grit, this is one of those rare books for readers of all ages with the makings of a modern classic.

A motherless young boy with supernatural abilities and a supernatural friend set off on an epic adventure to save his kidnapped father. A Western based on the Odyssey. Sad but full of hope. 4 🐎 🐎 🐎 🐎. #middlegrademarch

I loved Wonder and when I saw this cover while shelving books at work recently, I just had to read it.

Pony is a heartfelt story of a young boy searching for his father who was taken by a band of outlaws. Silas is different from other young boys though because he sees spirits. On his journey to find his father he uncovers things about himself, and his family that will forever change his world.

I was not aware this was a a kids book before I grabbed it (whoops), but it was great! Can‘t wait to see what my 11 year old thinks of it!

I finished reading this to my 6th grade Lit Lunch today and they absolutely loved it! I'm annoyed with myself that I forgot to take a photo of them with the book like I usually do...

Silas and his father live alone. His father is a photographer. One night men come riding and take Silas‘s father thinking he is a notorious counterfeiter. Silas and his imaginary friend decide to go after Silas‘s father…..the story takes you on a ride from here. From the author of Wonder, another good middle grade read. Set before the Civil war.

It was no Wonder (same author), but this was pretty darn good. I loved Silas and Mittenwool, and especially Pony, even though he was just a pony. But if you read it, you‘ll know why 🐴💙 🙌🏻. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I bought this book yesterday. Normally I would just add it to my ever growing TBR pile, but it just called to me and I wanted to start reading it right away. One thing my Literacy class has encouraged me to do is to browse the children‘s section a bit more and I‘m glad I did. I already want to keep reading, but I have a project to work on for another class (building a 3D classroom 😬)

I loved this middle-grade novel so much! Palacio‘s first novel outside the “Wonder” verse was completely different and I might like it more.

This is the epic journey of Silas, a twelve-year-old boy in the 1860‘s who sets out to find his kidnapped father on the back of a bald-faced pony with only his friend and ghost, Mittenwool, for company. Silas is terrified of his journey, but the universe is connected in a beautiful way.

What a ride!! This was absolutely fantastic! Middle grade but with crossover/classic appeal. This historical novel of friendship and kinship will simultaneously devastate, enlighten, and enliven you. The world can be dark but there's so much hope in it.

KrisNelson I could not put this book down. I spent most of Sunday reading it. Wow!!! 2y
