1952. A 24-hour train journey from La Paz, Bolivia to Arica, Chile. An eccentric cast of characters. And a murder.
I enjoyed the feel of the journey- the sense of place was wonderful. The conversations felt stylized rather than flowing. We learn a fair amount about the conflict between mine-owners and unions. Possibly more about ‘young love‘/obsession/sex than murder mystery, although we don‘t find out who paid the killer until the last page.

Overall, a weird one. I don‘t think I‘ll be falling over myself to read more by the author- but the descriptions were wonderful. #readaroundtheworld #bolivia @BookwormM @Currey @Simona @TorieStorieS @sprainedbrain (edited) 4y
