I'm not superstitious, but I do like a neat coincidence.
Autumnal weather had me thinking about werewolves (??♂️), when the Nouvelle Vague cover version of "The Killing Moon" came up on my playlist: A neat coincidence! Then, I get to the next story in this collection of old tales, which is a 14th century Swedish story called, "The Werewolf"! So, I will be guided by random probability and have a lycanthropic thread in my October reading ???
The opening words of the story of Emperor Theodosius from the Gesta Romanorum are familiar: "The Emperor had three daughters. So it liked this Emperor to know which of his daughters loved him best."
While Shakespeare may not of certainty lifted the basic plot of King Lear directly from the Gesta Romanorum, it was a medieval bestseller and certainly contributed to whichever source Bill did use.
