Pickpick

Impressive debut! Beautiful prose, strong female characters/ book lagged a bit in the middle but otherwise a compelling story of a fractured family trying to repair decades of hurt, jealousy, misplaced religious beliefs and moral judgments. Publishes tomorrow #NetGalley #ARC

#NetGalley #ARC Publishes this Tuesday, August 3!! I‘ve only just started but so far it‘s fabulous 🙏🏼 Told from the perspective of a fetus who enters the world just as his mother is exiting. {{Not a spoiler, that occurs on page 1}} prose is lovely 🥰

Cinfhen I just saw your review @Well-ReadNeck 😅hope I don‘t lose interest / I‘m not sure im going to enjoy the Obama storyline as plot device 🤷🏼‍♀️ 3y
ErikasMindfulShelf I just got approved for this on NetGalley. Looks great! 3y
Cinfhen It‘s a heavy read and it did drag a bit in the middle but overall it was very good @ErikasMindfulShelf Hope you enjoy it 🧡 3y

Mehso-so

A beautifully written novel that shines a light on the struggle of a family with differing values who are in conflict. The parallel to the American political divide is emphasized by the subplots relating the two Obama presidential campaigns. The narration of the book is done by an unborn/newly born child, at times in the second person voice, and I found it awkward and unnecessary. #ARC #netgalley
