Reyna's mother died she & her father are struggling to keep their hotel afloat when a group of celebrities (including her ex-boyfriend) visit & her world turns upside down. It's a loose retelling Persuasion but has an atmosphere all its own. It‘s soaked in the food, music & culture of Tobago & you can't help but be swept away.

This modern day version of Austen‘s Persuasion set in Tobago worked so well. It was great on audio!

I absolutely loved this retelling of Jane Austen‘s Persuasion set in Tobago. It was a perfect mix of homage to a classic and modern themes. The narrator was excellent as well. #PemberLittens #20in4 book 1 of 6.

This was a quick, enjoyable adaptation of Persuasion in one of my favorite settings to date. I don't believe I've read anything previously that's been set on the island of Tobago, and I loved the descriptions of the many flowers and trees, the music, the ocean...the writing was so evocative. I definitely recommend this to my fellow #PemberLittens and #YA fans!

Persuasion retelling #pemberlittens

This was absolutely delightful. I loved the sense of place this story gets being set in Tobago. Reyna‘s artists soul had me hooked from the beginning and Aiden‘s music makes him the perfect match for her. I loved seeing our Persuasion characters reimagined in this setting and enjoyed how the author brought a little empathy to the characters that aren‘t very nice in the original. I couldn‘t put it down! 5⭐️

I‘ve been having a hard time connecting with current / contemporary MC‘s recently. Also, retellings of classics are hard. For me, this one was slow and I was already past halfway point and not very invested. I try to give myself 100 pages or middle of the book to see if I am hooked on the story. If not, I DNF it. 📚it‘s a neat idea, but not for me 🥲

Started working on getting new books into the library system to be ready for kids on Thursday. Had to check this one out! Retelling of Jane Austen‘s “Persuasion “ - hope it is good!
