One Time Only
One Time Only | Lauren Blakely
1 post | 2 read | 2 to read
A fiery, passionate MM forbidden romance novel from #1 New York Times Bestselling author Lauren Blakely Ever hear the story about the bodyguard who falls for the rock star? Yeah, it never ends well. Each day I remind myself that it's my job to protect Stone. And nowhere in the job description does it say I should lust after the charismatic, charming man. Especially since we're opposites. But every night I spend with him the dangerous, off-limits attraction grows more intense. Until one night in a limo when we combust. One time only will have to be enough. One scorching, forbidden night. Because the mistakes from the past are chasing me. And if I give in again, I'll lose everything. But sometimes you grab hold of the desire. And other times, the desire takes hold of you. No matter the cost.

Mehso-so

Am I getting old? This was too graphic/explicit. I don't know. I liked the M/M romance, but the blow by blow between the sheets (yes, pun intended) was a bit too much. And that's not because it's M/M!!!

Other books with a lot of 🔥🌋 in 🛏️ put me off, too.

I'm probably getting 🧓🧓🧓 and 🙈🙈🙈

julesG @GingerAntics I used to not mind. But somehow the more 'literotica' books are putting me off. I'm not sure whether it's because books are being more graphic, or whether it's just overexposure on my part. The only thing worse are the German translations of rather harmless books I tend to pick up on NetGalley. The sex scenes are cringe worthy sometimes. What was hot in English becomes a human reproduction/biology lesson in German. 🥴 3y
GingerAntics @julesG oh wow that just sounds hideous. Who are these translators running the hot bits? Did they find them exciting/sexy when they translated that way? I guess I haven‘t read a lot of recent stuff. I‘ve read a little bit of stuff from 10-15 years ago. I‘m some mixture of curious and terrified to get something newer to compare. 3y
julesG @GingerAntics it's probably the publishers not the translators. You know, old white men deciding what we can read. And if it's not old white men then it's old white women with a stick up their 🍑 3y
GingerAntics @julesG true. That‘s so sad, really. I always wonder if they‘ve ever fully thought out their obvious position of “I‘ve never enjoyed or explored my sexuality, so you can‘t either.” 3y
