The tenth book in the fast-paced InCryptid urban fantasy series returns to the mishaps of the Price family, eccentric cryptozoologists who safeguard the world of magical creatures living in secret among humans. Just when Sarah Zellaby, adopted Price cousin and telepathic ambush predator, thought that things couldn't get worse, she's had to go and prove herself wrong. After being kidnapped and manipulated by her birth family, she has undergone a transformation called an instar, reaching back to her Apocritic origins to metamorphize. While externally the same, she is internally much more powerful, and much more difficult to control. Even by herself. After years of denial, the fact that she will always be a cuckoo has become impossible to deny. Now stranded in another dimension with a handful of allies who seem to have no idea who she is--including her cousin Annie and her maybe-boyfriend Artie, both of whom have forgotten their relationship--and a bunch of cuckoos with good reason to want her dead, Sarah must figure out not only how to contend with her situation, but with the new realities of her future. What is she now? Who is she now? Is that person someone she can live with? And when all is said and done, will she be able to get the people she loves, whether or not they've forgotten her, safely home?

Although I like some better than others, I never dislike a Seanan McGuire book. This is no exception, but it started on shaky ground. It felt a bit like an excuse to create an old early 50‘s/60‘s sci-fi style dimension (eg Fantastic Planet) with giant spiders to have our heroes stuck in, with the addition of zombies, but it worked out okay and I‘m glad the book ended how it did. I am glad that the POV changes character every 2 books, for variety

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 298.

Catching up on my monthly read posts. Here are my March 2021 reads! All were very enjoyable. The two Bujolds were a re-read, and I did not fully appreciate Diplomatic Immunity when it first came out.

Here is the experience of reading Seanan McGuire: Giant spider w/lice in its hair 😱...named Greg...”the whole time Greg, my big, brave spider boy, who had to know all the way to the bottom of his primitive mind that he was about to die, continued to stand guard over me”....I guess I‘m ride or die for the giant spider now.

Y‘all it has been a very long time since I just spent a whole day reading to finish a book but it was So Good and a very good finishing for the cliff hanger the last one left us on. I haven‘t read the novella in the back so look forward to that mini review but I truly love this book!
