I wasn‘t planning to finish the tagged book so quickly as my start to the #20in4 marathon, but I kind of got on a roll. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. It confirmed my decision to give up on the series, but I can‘t wait to discuss it with the book club.

Meanwhile, these three books are “due” in one way or another on Tuesday, so that‘s what I‘ll be reading over the weekend.

Andrew65 Best of luck with finishing those. Too many good series out there to continue with a series you aren‘t enjoying. 1y

One of my #readinggoals this year was to catch up with the Faye Kellerman series. I read two more (23 & 24) and just couldn‘t anymore. I still like the MC and his family, but his new sidekick is annoying and their dialogue clunky. The stories are interesting enough but sometimes a little loopy.

The joke‘s on me, though, because one of my book clubs will be reading the tagged book for February! It also includes a tiresome recurring character.

Having caught up with Inspector Gamache last year, I‘m turning my attention to Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus for #seriesread2022 leading up to this latest in the series. I think there‘s a new one coming out later this year as well.

There are other series reads on my TBR this year, so I‘ll try to be better about reviewing them. Plus, I‘m sure there will be a new Gamache book!

Mehso-so

Maybe it‘s been too long since I‘ve read a Decker/Lazarus novel, but this book underperformed. It‘s a perfectly serviceable mystery, but the solution to the secondary crime was a bit of a letdown. We‘re also left with an unsatisfactory solution to the main crime. And then the ending is a bit of a cliffhanger, and I feel kind of meh. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
