Poison or Protect: A Delightfully Deadly Novella
Poison or Protect: A Delightfully Deadly Novella | Gail Carriger
Can one gentle Highland soldier woo Victorian London's most scandalous lady assassin, or will they both be destroyed in the attempt? New York Times bestselling author Gail Carriger presents a stand-alone romance novella set in her popular steampunk universe full of manners, spies, and dainty sandwiches. Lady Preshea Villentia, the Mourning Star, has four dead husbands and a nasty reputation. Fortunately, she looks fabulous in black. What society doesn't know is that all her husbands were marked for death by Preshea's employer. And Preshea has one final assignment. It was supposed to be easy, a house party with minimal bloodshed. Preshea hadn't anticipated Captain Gavin Ruthven - massive, Scottish, quietly irresistible, and... working for the enemy. In a battle of wits, Preshea may risk her own heart - a terrifying prospect, as she never knew she had one.

3/5⭐ I liked what Carriger did with the themes of consent and power dynamics. Much of the story has her usual charm. However, I thought the quality of the overall pacing/progression seemed choppy and didn't meet Carriger's usual standards. #bookspinbingo #doublespin complete! @thearomaofbooks

Earlier in this spring (before we hunkered down at home) I bought these farm stand flowers. Loved how purple anemone matched book cover and hot pink ranunculus my throw pillow. As for the review We're definitely not at Finishing School anymore! Wee bit darker, raunchier and whole lot of fun.

If Preshea were a flower - Iris tectorum. Delicate looking beauty that withstands storms and parts of it are poisonous.
Fun Fact: Commonly called roof iris because in the past has been grown on thatched roofs in both Japan and China. 💜💜💜💜💜

litterairy I understand Miss Gail is quite personable. A friend of mine started reading her books after being befriended by her at WildWestCon. 5y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @litterairy she seems like she would be. You know that game were you name the 5 people living or dead you want to have dinner with? She's the only living person on my list. 5y

Next up in #ParasolProtectorate readalong. I‘ve not read this one yet so I will join in for it. I started it last year but was distracted by some new shiny book. No distractions this time!

Another one done for my #unreadshelfproject #kindle edition. This was a fun little sex romp. I had not read the Finishing School series but I did enjoy Soulless. I have liked the few Steampunk books I‘ve read so far.

This is proof that consent can be sexy. For fans of Carriger‘s Finishing School series, this novella gives us a look at adult Preshea and how she has developed since the end of the series. It is fun, easy to read, and definitely steamy.

#LitsyPSA: A lot of Gail Carriger‘s fans have asked if she would ever bundle her stories and so..... yes, this has happened. It looks like it‘s a pretty good bundle and you have the option of giving some of the proceeds to charity. It‘s pay what you can but it looks like if you pay $15+ you get extra stories. Bundles are a great way to check out new authors too. http://storybundle.com/sorcery

Love it. Totally fun and distracting. Enjoyed this continuation of one of the minor characters from one of her previous series, and seeing her ten plus years down the line. Hopefully more of these novellas are coming soon!

A delightful, sexy romp with one of the Finishing School characters all grown up (and how!)

If you like Gail Carriger and you enjoy some steam with your romance, you will enjoy. Definitely a new path for Carriger.

For Ms. Carriger's first foray into erotica, this is a freaking fantastic novella that excellently balances story with sex. It's fun, sexy, and clever. I hope we will get to see some of the new characters we were introduced to in later novel.

I finished this novella during the "Historic Louisiana Flood" because I was stuck at home with, let's face it, no where to go and nothing else to do. #gailcarriger

Gail Carriger can do no wrong. This novella (about Preshea from the Finishing School series all grown up) was characteristically witty, sweet and a little steamy. SO GOOD.

Gail Carriger has a new novella out about Preshea 10 years after the Finishing School series. So pumped for this!
