To a master alchemist like Addie, impossible is just another word for challenge. When a fiery explosion destroys the Alchemica, the premier alchemy institute in the United States, she's left with nothing. No home, no colleagues, and no memory. Learning what happened seems impossible, but she still has one strength, and in her opinion, it's the only one she needs. She hasn't forgotten a thing about alchemy.Addie brews a potion to restore her lost past, but remembers only the flames of the Alchemica's destruction-and a man among the ashes. A man with the elemental power of fire, who just happens to be the leader of the magical community. He might know what happened, but getting him to tell her will require some...creativity. The magical aren't fond of alchemists. Some say it borders on hatred, but Addie isn't one to back down from a challenge, even if that challenge happens to be a man who can turn her to ash with a thought.

In that weird state when you finished the book...but it was the last book in the series, so now the adventure is over. Fun, fast paced read that switched between Addie‘s viewpoint and Rowan‘s, and included James as well. Nicely wrapped up the series, which started with the tagged book. Didn‘t see pictured book listed.

The Catalyst of Corruption is book 4 of the series. Rowan is dying, Elysia‘s gift is killing her, Ian has a secret agenda, Alexander is making problems for Rowan, and Addie is getting desperate. How far will she go to save the people she loves? The one trail she has leads to a dark place...murder. But one thing Addie knows about herself is that she‘ll do anything to save her loved ones. Another action packed adventure. Next book should be good!

In spite of her amnesia, Addie knows what she knows, so to speak. She‘s brash, impulsive, compassionate, and confident...or is she? Enjoyed book one enough that I can see continuing the series. Liked the concepts of old vs new magic, necromancers, hellhounds, zombies, liches, and alchemists. And in spite of lacking magic, Addie knows how to whip up concoctions in the lab that let her take on all comers. The trick is who to trust.
