Batter of Wits
Batter of Wits | Karla Sorensen, Smartypants Romance
2 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
Hate at first sight couldn't possibly exist, right? That's what Grace Buchanan thought, before her useless car stranded her on the side of a deserted road just inside the Green Valley city limits. When Tucker Haywood--tall and handsome and full of southern charm-- shows up to help, her reaction to him is the strongest thing she's ever felt in her life, and it makes no freaking sense. It doesn't make much sense to Tucker either. Not why she hates him, or why he finds her so intriguing. He knows well enough that Grace is moving to Green Valley for a fresh start, not to distract him when he's got no room for something like her in his life. The complications between them are endless, but that doesn't stop her definitely not love-at-first-sight feelings from changing into something else entirely. Grace and Tucker are about to learn the hard way that in Green Valley, hating someone has never tasted so sweet. 'Batter of Wits' is a full-length contemporary romance, can be read as a standalone, and is book #5 in the Donner Bakery series, Green Valley World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

Pickpick

Karla Sorenson's Batter of Wits is just the sweetest romance. It's enemies to lovers . . . sort of. But it's also love (or at least passion) at first sight. I appreciated that this one is as much about making a relationship work as it is about what happens leading up to the "happily ever after" (though that's definitely part of it, too). This one is about Grace, who has moved from the big city to the small mountain town of Green Valley. ⬇️

UnabridgedPod She meets Tyler when her car breaks down on her way into town, and she is immediately taken over by inexplicable hatred. She vows to avoid him, but (of course!) she can't. ⠀
Tyler is anchored completely in his town. He's working with his dad as an attorney in their generations-old law firm, and he's engaged to his high school girlfriend, Magnolia. He's also deeply unhappy, but no one--except Grace--can see it.⠀

UnabridgedPod This is a great addition to Penny Reid's universe of contemporary romances--it's definitely one of my favorites not penned by Reid herself.⠀

Do you prefer books that work out the "happily ever after" or end with it?

Johanna414 Oh, im going to have to look this up! I like stories that show that successful relationships take work. HEA is great, but maintaining it takes effort 😍 4y
UnabridgedPod @Johanna414 Yes!! And if you love the universe, check out the rest of the Smartypants Romance books—they‘re a lot of fun. 😀 4y
Johanna414 Will do! I love Penny Reid's books but haven't read any of the other Smartypants Romance titles yet 4y
