The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks | 
pickEver since I first heard about Rosa Parks (in a Doctor Who episode) I wanted to learn more about her. This biography has been on my wishlist ever since. Great thing I finally read it, because there's so much to tell about Rosa. That she has been politically active for year before and after. That without her there would be no Martin Luther King. That she kept on fighting for what's right. I am so, so impressed by her.

Happy birthday to Rosa Parks!
While we mostly know her defiance of not moving to the back of the bus and starting the Montgomery Bus Boycott during the Civil Rights Movement, she made a much greater impact than that day. Mrs. Parks was not new to activism & carried out work to end sexual assault, and she was an active participant in the CRM. This is a great book about her activism life that we encourage you to pick up! 💪🏾

On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus.
Martin Luther King Jr. replaced Vernon Johns as pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist church in Montgomery, AL. Jones was said to be too militant. This sermon, "It's Safe to Murder Negroes in Montgomery" is a taste of him in the pulpit. Whew.
I found my way back to this book after setting it aside for awhile. I tend to have 3 books in rotation at any given time. How about for you?
