Return to the Buckingham Hotel in Anton Du Beke's sparkling new novel . . . London, 1938. As the threat of war looms ever closer, the Buckingham Hotel's difficulties grow. Still reeling from the events of last year, and with guests decreasing as foreign tensions mount, the staff of the Buckingham will have to struggle to keep up the hotel's glamorous reputation. Life for Nancy Nettleton and the man she loves, demonstration dancer Raymond de Guise, is only about to get harder. But beneath the glitz of the ballroom lies a thousand secrets . . .

Very good. Loved how from the very first page Anton Du Beke makes you feel that you are amongst old friends from the very first page. His love of dancing shines through every page.Just like the other books in this series it carries a message to the reader and this books message is to seize the day because you never know what is around the corner so you should live life to its fullest and create love in all it's forms when the opportunity arises ⬇️

Birdsong28 For the characters in this book the message is due to the Second World War looming but it is obvious that is a metaphor for 2020 as it was mainly written in the March-June Uk lockdown ( he says so much in his afterword). Can't wait for the next in this series. I did receive a copy through #NetGalley but I couldn't wait for it to be confirmed so I bought a print copy but I am thankful for #NetGalley.

I know @Birdsong28 is the only person that believes me, but it‘s good to be back in the Buckingham Hotel Grand Ballroom.

Somehow these books strike just the right balance between comfort reads, serious historical fiction topics and romance-without-it-being-the-be-all-and-end-all. And they‘re very readable!

Shall I send this one on when I‘m done, Victoria, or have you tracked down a copy?

Birdsong28 Thanks for thinking of me but I bought a copy and I have been reading it today! How funny that you tag me in it today. Yes I totally agree with you about being back at The Buckingham Hotel and it's wonderful ballroom full of lovely characters. 📚 📖 @rockpools 3y
Birdsong28 The characters feel like old friends and I am checking up with them @rockpools 3y

rockpools @TheEllieMo Hope you enjoy it - it‘s one of my favourite of the year. 4y
rockpools @julesG It does, however, have a particularly ghastly cover, of the ‘wouldn‘t touch it with a bargepole if I saw it in a shop‘ variety. 4y
Megabooks I‘ll play. Thanks Rachel! 😊😊 4y
