4 ⭐ I have been a big fan of Little Critter all my life. I can remember listening to the original 8x8 book and reading along to the record. Now little critter has entered the world of easy readers and it does work. It isn‘t as impactful or as charming as I remember, but it was still a lot of fun seeing Little Critter help out dad.

Little Critter: Just Helping My Dad is an MF written by Mercer Mayer. It's a cute and simple story of a little critter just trying to help his dad, though he's not doing a good job, but to his dad, it's the thought that counts. I always loved the Little Critter books as a kid. This is a younger grade level book but I think it would be great to use for students who aren't strong readers to create confidence in them. #UCFLAE3414SP20

Agavitt1 I do think this would be good for IR, especially for students who are struggling to create confidence through a book that's easier to read. https://blog.readingeggs.com/2016/01/29/15-simple-ways-to-boost-your-childs-read... This source provides a lot of different strategies to build a child confidence in reading and I think it's an important source to check out. 4y
Agavitt1 UDL Principle 6.1 Guide appropriate goal-setting: Not every student is going to be on the same page and learn in the same exact way so it's important to help students set realistic goals for themselves. ESOL Strategy 26. Maintain a library of supplementary books and workbooks written in simple English, which offer additional illustrations for problems. It's important to provide these resources for students who need to utilize it. 4y
Ryan_R I‘m so excited that you shared this! I‘m doing a book from this series for my read aloud! 4y
DrSpalding Boosting children‘s reading confidence… What a fabulous resource to include. Independent reading with the little critter series is appropriate. This is a great series to include in your primary classroom library. 4y
