From the critically acclaimed author of Say What You Will and A Step Toward Falling comes a deeply emotional new novel, perfect for fans of Five Feet Apart and The Fault in Our Stars. David Scheinman is the popular president of his senior class, battling cystic fibrosis. Jamie Turner is a quiet sophomore, struggling with depression. The pair soon realizes that theyre able to be more themselves with each other than they can be with anyone else, and their unlikely friendship starts to turn into something so much more. But neither Jamie nor David can bring themselves to reveal the secrets that weigh most heavily on their heartsand their time for honesty may be running out.

I am currently reading this novel, which I can‘t put down. It‘s about a boy named David with CF (cystic fibrosis) and a girl named Jamie that just has recovered from depression. Jamie volunteers at the hospital David stays at. Jamie wants to tell David what happened last spring and David thinks he‘s going to die.

MrsBabki Great start! If you love this—I have a stack of books for you! Watch it‘s and its. 3y
Zoechristofiloyiannis Thank you for the correction, I missed that. I would love to see those books! 3y

This was a much better written version of the infamous “If I Stay” (which I absolutely DETESTED when I read it, many, many moons ago). The conversation around depression was especially empathetic. The characters were interesting, their conversations lively. I‘m not going to shout about this one from the rooftops, but it was a sweet, poignant read. ★★★☆☆.

This book reminded me a lot of Five Feet Apart and The Fault in Our Stars. David has CF and is in the hospital. When he meet Jamie he is kind of down as his health is going down hill. He sees her as a ray of sunshine. But when they leave the hospital without the hospital knowing and it goes really bad Jamie doesn‘t know if David will make it. Will they still be friend or maybe even more! This book gave me all the warm fuzzy feelings!
