This author writes for television and you can tell. This is a fun, fast-paced page turner with an intriguing mystery and great lead character. Detective Eve Ronin is trying to prove herself on her first big case after she gains online notoriety for arresting a famous movie star. I really liked her as a character and will definitely be reading the rest of her series.

Am I finally out of the biggest reading slump I‘ve been in for years? I hope so! This first Detective Eve Ronin novel is a fun, fast-paced, easy police procedural. It‘s full of action, it‘s gruesome, and it‘s not too long so it‘s difficult to get bored. Just what I needed.

This was an engrossing read and Eve Ronin was a character that I couldn‘t get enough of. She was tough, smart, tenacious, and committed to seeing justice done. She was quick enough to see opportunities that were coming her way and use them to her advantage but realistic enough to know that they came with a price but it was a price she was willing to pay. She was a great lead character and I am very excited to see where she goes in this series.

This book was too short! 😩 I read it while stuck in epic Thanksgiving traffic, and really wished I had Book 2. This book reminded me why I like police procedurals, and Eve Ronin is a great character.

Some months, I don‘t want any of the books offered in First Reads but this month, I had a hard time choosing!
