The Orange County, California, that the Becker brothers knew as boys is no moreunrecognizably altered since the afternoon in 1954 when Nick, Clay, David, and Andy rumbled with the lowlife Vonns, while five-year-old Janelle Vonn watched from the sidelines. The new decade has ushered in the era of Johnson, hippies, John Birchers, and LSD. Clay becomes a casualty of a far-off jungle war. Nick becomes a cop, Andy a reporter, David a minister. The ending saved it for me otherwise I wasn't too crazy about this one. This was a standalone but I know that Parker writes series, too, in the crime/mystery genre.
What's your favorite series in the modern crime mystery genre? I'm looking for some recommendations as I haven't had much luck and it's always fun to return to a good series in between other books.

JohnnySandman Robert Crais' Elvis Cole series is pretty good. Quick reads that have a good mixture of fun and gravitas when required. There is also a spin-off series that's more Man on Fire but still good. 8y
