pickI finished this last night and then, die to moving and packing up the house, found myself with No Books To Read 🤔😆😭😫.
Never had that before!
However, I quite enjoyed this, a lightvread but also highlighted loneliness and community. Interesting to discover more about Missy through the other characters.

Though reserved Missy finds herself accosted by two very different ladies in the local park whilst out on a walk.
Those two ladies are the new lifeline in her life and are the way that Missy rejoins a social world that she thought was behind her.
So used to her own company she struggles but ever so slowly she learns to trust but can she ever fully live?
pickI‘ve marked this as a pick as I really enjoyed it whilst reading it. However, since I finished it last night I‘ve started to pull it apart. I don‘t think that the MC was as sympathetic as say, Ove, even though he was a major grump. Missy comes from privilege so comes across as a bit whiney. Also there were a couple of major plot points that just didn‘t sit right, and the family history was a bit superfluous.
Just OK - 3 stars from me.

I can totally relate to this. I endured dark moments in my past where I couldn‘t afford even a loaf of bread. Thankfully those days are behind me and I must have hidden it well because my son (now 20) recently told me that he had no idea things were that bad in his childhood.
This particular quote is in relation to the Brexit decision after the vote.
