This adaptation of Pride and Prejudice follows the cursed Mr. Darcy as he strives to overcome both his love and his bloodlust for Miss Elizabeth Bennet. Faithful to the original in many ways, it focuses on Darcy's story as he descends into the seedier side of London, intriducing Elizabeth to a world of passion and the paranormal she never knew about before.

As a member of Fictional Hangover's Vampire Book Club https://www.facebook.com/groups/fictionalhangover/?ref=share how could I not read this for #AusteninAugust. It's really good.

My only complaint it never addressed how Vampire Darcy could walk in sunlight. And nobody noticed Darcy was always pushing food around his plate and not eating.

Bummed Book 2 isn't available on audio because it's Excessively British. Will read on Kindle. 🧛🏻‍♂️

Okay, I'm torn between a so-so & a pick. In general, so-so, but for its genre it would be a pick. It does get sexually explicit more than Austen in Vol. IV, a couple of typos, & a LOT of references to Shakespeare, specifically MAAN. Still, her style remained mostly true to Austen. Overall, Not bad.

I love to read adaptations of P&P, some are just awful, some are decent, and some are great. So far this one is true to Austen's tone and I love that it is told more from Darcy's perspective. This letter to his sister, broken up by the room's conversation, made me laugh. I am liking it!

BooksTeasAndBookishThings @Peddler410 you can read without the original, she really wrote it in a way that is pretty reminiscent of it, and it has some of the same great lines/dialogue. Even if you have seen the movie adaptations you can recognize them. At chapter 10 right now, and I am still intrigued. ;) 8y

BooksTeasAndBookishThings @Alohamoraopenabook Same here! I get so excited with them, My Husband does not understand. When I saw that Death Comes To Pemberley was on Netflix, I squealed! He just shook his head. When I bought this, I couldn't stop smiling. He just shook his head. Basically, he shakes his head a lot. 8y

BooksTeasAndBookishThings @StephTKO I actually liked Eligibility, a pretty recent one that I read. And one cute, fun read by Abigail Bok. She sent me a signed copy and it was unique style of Austen storytelling that was easy to read.

BooksTeasAndBookishThings @StephTKO I also liked the book The Mysterious Death of Miss Jane Austen which is not P&P, but actually mixes fiction and fact about Jane Austen's life and death. I was surprised at how much I liked it =) 8y

BooksTeasAndBookishThings @erzascarletbookgasm I have tried P+P+Zombies and it was one that was just okay. So, I went into this with a wary mind, but she actually did a lot of research and has maintained an Austen tone so far. The vampire aspect isn't overplayed so far, more like just another characteristic. 8y
