Mercy Watson Fights Crime | Kate DiCamillo
7 posts | 8 read | 1 to read
Features an audio read along! Leroy Ninker is a small man with a big dream: he wants to be a cowboy, but for now hes just a thief. In fact, Leroy is robbing the Watsons kitchen right this minute! But little does he know that a certain pig who loves toast with a great deal of butter is stirring from sleep. Even less could he guess that a comedy of errors will soon lead this little man on the wild and raucous rodeo ride hes always dreamed of! Nosy neighbors, astonished firemen, a puzzled policeman, and the ever-doting Watsons return for a hilarious adventure. Meant to be viewed on full-color devices only.

Mercy Watson Fights Crime is a great short MF-S novel for the class. It has a great story line that keeps the attention of the students! A lesson that can be taken from this story is if you are mindful and unproblematic, good things come back to you! All Mercy wanted was some toast, and toast she got.

Ericaj This book sounds interesting. As a kid, Mercury Waston was one of my favorite children's serie. This book is great for students to identify the theme. 3y

Mercy Watson fights crime written by Kate Dicamillo and illustrated by Chris Van Dunsen is F book that‘s just a fun mystery! Perfect for a IR in your classroom. The story is about a pig named Mercy Watson, who witnessed her house get robbed! What does she do next? http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/calendar-activities/celebrate-... the link above is a fun activity for students to remember

SierraC Kate Dicamillo, and write their own short story. This book is perfect for students who are transitioning into chapter books, the chapters in this book are short and help guide the reader. My ESOL strategies are 2 and 3, this book is quick fun read and after the student read it by themselves they can talk in groups. My UDL strategy is 3.1, in this book we do have a thief and just to go over with my students what a thief is. (edited) 6y
prissy.mooney This sounds like such a great book! I‘m going to add this to my stack to read! I think kids would love this! 6y
DrSpalding Independent reading is just right for these books. Due to the content they could be read by higher level kindergarten students or in first and second grade. I love Mercy. ❤️🐷 6y

Mercy Watson Fights Crime is a fiction book. It is about Leroy who is a small man who has a big dream of being a cowboy but for now he is thief. Leroy is robbing a house where a large pig is staying in. Leroy is stealing a toaster which is something the pig loves. I found a website that has an activity that goes along with this book along with other books in this series. http://www.candlewick.com/book_files/0763636444.btg.1.pdf #ucflae3414sp17

DrSpalding Leroy Ninker was a small man, a small man with a big dream!😆 7y

This series is weird, weird, weird.

LivinginaLibrary Very but my 6 year old loves them! They were the first chapter books he had any interest in. Mercy is really an awful per though! 8y
RebeccaH @BookishMarginalia it's about a couple who are extremely extremely devoted to their pig and it has an old woman named Baby, and they're all obsessed with buttered toast. 8y
RebeccaH @LivinginaLibrary my kid loves them too -- we now own 3 of them! 8y
