I thought this was super fun to read and gave some good insight to South African culture. I think it also had a great message.

Gift of the Sun by Dianne Stewart is a piece of traditional literature. It was written in 1996. This books was very interesting. It had elements of repetition as well as a simple and easy to follow plot. It was interesting to hear all the difficulties they had and then from those difficulties they ended up flourishing and having more than what they started with.

Gift of the Sun was written by Dianne Stewart in 1996. This is a story that shows how you can start with something small and turn it into something great! I really liked this story and the way it progressed. This was a great book to read!

I think this book has a deeper lesson! It teaches the students that you may not always succeed on the first try but eventually everything works out. It‘s important to be a hard worker!

Gift of the Sun is a tale from South Africa written by Diane Stewart. The tale was published in 1996 and is about a man, Thulani, who tries to impress his wife, Dora. He buys and sells animals but his decisions never seem to make her happy! After some time, he grows sunflowers that the chickens use and Thulani finds Dora happier than ever!

I would put this in my classroom. I like that the man is trying to make the women happy. It represents South African culture throughout it as well.

This book surprised me because the man, Thulani was trying to please the women, Dora. This usually is not the case. The women usually has to please the man to make the man happy. The clothes they were wearing represented African culture.

This book would be a great cultural read. It would be great for ages 6-8. The words are simple and easy to read.

This book was a wonderful quick read. Not too many hard words for kids to understand. The illustrations are beautiful and have meaning behind very single one of them.

“You know, Dora, my best thoughts come to me when I‘m milking.”

I loved the way lines are used to make the story more under stable.

The theme of this tale is to never take something for granted, because it could be worse.
