Even though I had an idea where this book was going, it was still like being punched in the gut when it got there. This one was hard for me to read. There was so much pain in it, but the story was really powerful. I won't forget this one for a while.

I started this book while waiting to pick my son up from school. It's sleeting here today. I'm fighting hard against the winter blues...

Just picked this book up today. I've never heard of this author, but this book did win a PEN award. It is told in verse, which reminds me of Ellen Hopkins and her writing style. I am going to read it tomorrow for part of my #24in48 pile. :)

I was concerned originally because I felt like this had been done before but...no. This story isn't about the reveal. Adults can see the reveal coming, but watching the young character discover what we know, and more and more get revealed was a real treat. Glad to get one of the books off of my shortlist finally read. Fantastic read. 4/5

This has been on my TBR Shortlist for a bit, but either I am drawn to the same kind of books or prose books used to tell stories of broken homes and craziness is overdone.
