Pickpick

I'm catching up on the classics with this collection of short stories by the master of the detective, mystery and macabre genres. The virtue of classic and must-read authors resides in that their work remains captivating and meaningful even almost 200 years later.

I only read The Gold-Bug out of this. I‘m very slowly making my way through all his material, and I‘ve wanted to read this story since college.

This might be my least favorite Poe story. There‘s nothing creepy about it, definitely one of his detective stories. That being said, there wasn‘t much of a mystery. It‘s mostly the narrators friend acting weird, then a long explanation why.

But there‘s buried treasure & cryptography 🏴‍☠️🪲🗺

TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! It's been years since I read any Poe - I can't remember if I ever read this one or not! 3y

Poe writes on a myriad of topics; this collection features a short story about a gold encrusted bug. It's Poe, so you know there has to be something sinister and creepy. #bug #sizzlinsummerbooks
