This morning I‘m reading a couple of essays from this wonderful collection that so vividly evokes a certain era as well as James Baldwin himself.
50+ years later and so much of Baldwin's writing remains on point.
Written in 1961. Seems even more relevant now.
I am aiming at what Henry James called "perception at the pitch of passion."
My library haul: only one in that white male genre I'm striving to read outside of. Started the Baldwin with the essay "The Uses of the Blues". I can tell he going to teach me a lot and I'm going to value it.
