Greenwich Village
Greenwich Village: Culture and Counterculture | Rick Beard, Leslie Berlowitz
1 post
Treating New York's bohemian enclave, Greenwich Village, as an urban microcosm, the 22 essays in this volume explore its architecture and art, cultural dimensions, political life, and peoples. The editors bring together both astute commentators on American life and culture and a rich collection of visual images from the Museum of the City of New York. 129 illustrations.

#cemetery #LetsTravelJuly When I would get to Washington Square Park in NYC,I would feel I was in my real New York.Lots of folks don‘t know up until 1797 it was farmland, then New York purchased it for the new potters field ,to bury the unknown , indigent ,or those who died of Yellow fever. The English elm in the NW corner is the oldest tree in Manhattan, called the Hanging tree though they can only confirm one hanging happened there in 1820.
